why sugar makes you age

why sugar makes you age

Refined sugar is one of the worst culprits to aging.

Basically, sugar binds to amino acids in your body to form compounds called advanced glycation end products, or “AGEs” for short. And they literally cause you to age.

These sticky sugar-protein compounds throw your body’s insulin-response system into a tailspin.  AGEs concentrate in your body and cause your tissues, joints, blood vessels and organs to stiffen, and your skin to wrinkle.

AGEs from sugar are associated with all of the diseases of aging including diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, cataracts, Alzheimer’s disease and cancer. And here’s the most surprising part – the problem isn’t just white sugar.  Fructose is much worse.  In fact, fructose forms AGEs at about 10 times the rate of glucose. This is important because food manufacturers often use high- fructose corn syrup while mass producing food.

Scientists now believe that reducing glycation is a means of slowing the aging process and disease formation.

The first thing you can do to reclaim your health and age gracefully is to cut out all of the inflammatory and sugary foods from your diet.
